They’re known as “lifeboat jobs”: in-demand positions that pay at least $15 an hour, are relatively easy to obtain and can be leveraged into even better occupations. Now, Bendable offers a way in, with the addition of three new Career Collections—sets of courses where you earn digital badges as you go. They are in welding, sales and customer service. “Bendable helps workers in our economy adapt,” said Leighton Johnson of the South Bend-Elkhart Regional Partnership, who has collaborated with WorkOne of Northern Indiana to identify lifeboat jobs as well as the “destination jobs,” which “are a next step beyond.”
